I showed up today (Saturday) at Gavilan, but after an hour I split. I ended up flying 10 flights for an audience on the shore of Eagle Nest Lake. Just the right amount of wind, not too cold. Excellent! Tony, the grass here is great for soft landings and there is a great dirt runway/parking lot to boot. I would go there anytime with any of you whenever you want. You would all love it. I put a P-51 prop on the FOX and it hauls ass now, WOW! It doesn't fold, but it sure doubled the speed. It is now my favorite. I could toss all the other planes and stick with the FOX for good...

Eagle Nest lake sounds great. It's just kind of a long drive. But what the heck!!

For me, getting ready early on a weekend and getting out to Gavilan Field by 11 is doing good. I tend to be kind of a slow-starter on weekends. But sure, I wouldn't mind going up to Eagle's Nest sometime. I've been there, and you're right, nice place to fly. Also a nice place for a pontoon plane...just don't lose it in the water!!!
In fact, come to think of it, once the lake freezes over, it might make a wonderful runway.
