I know you guys like to fly at Gavilan Field, but it's a long way to go to find out the field is closed, as has been the case the last couple of weeks. So I think we should have some back-up locations to meet at if that is the case.
Taos Middle School is a good location to gather, but so is Kit Carson Park. You know, in the back of Kit Carson Park are these huge baseball diamonds that are almost never in use. Also pretty much free of trees and fences unless you fly close to the edge. That might not be a bad location as a possible backup plan. Also almost completely grassed and free of mud, hopefully, being baseball diamonds.

Another good possibility is across from Mitch's office, over where they fly the hot air balloons. That is actually an EXCELLENT and nearby location. But only in dry conditions because it turns muddy in wet weather. Still, not a bad place to consider if there's a nice layer of powder snow over the ground.

I fly in the balloon field every day. It is awesome and you can even drive up to the NW hill and fly below eye level. Very fun and big...
