This past Sunday, it was pretty nasty out, admittedly. But two of us wanted to fly so bad that we went out anyway. I had just gotten my new foamy, a military Piper Cub, and had my sailplane. I didn't see anyone at Gavilan Field and it was REALLY muddy out there. So I drove around.
I was talking to Kim, who was wisely keeping his planes grounded for the day due to weather, and saw Mitch pull out in front of me. So Mitch and I got together and went to the soccer field at Taos Middle School to fly. It was AWESOME there. Only problem was, it was also very blustery, and not good conditions for the little foamy I brought, especially being a beginner. Mitch had some difficulty in his white foamy himself.
So the Taos Middle School "Central Aerodrome" is a very nice field, with paved "runways" and an excellent cushioned grassy field completely devoid of mud, for an occaisional romp.
Hope the rest of you guys brave the winter like we will. I can't wait for the big snow. Perfect conditions for a beginner like me.
