Hey where do you buy rubber bands in Taos? We don't really have an office supply store. I need at least 6 rubber bands to hold my sailplane wing in place. I'll try Walmart today; that's the only place I can think of that MIGHT have rubber bands.
I balanced it (I think) and checked the radio. I thought I had it balanced earlier but it was apparently nose heavy, and took it on the chin with minor damage that was fixed in a few minutes. What I really need is a field full of tall grass to check this thing. The ground's a bit unforgiving around me. I realized also I didn't have enough rubber bands holding the wing down.
Anyway, I'll bring it with me tomorrow. Maybe on Gavilan Field, there will be a decent place to glide test it. With any luck, "flight student Bearcat" will get up in the air.
My foamy trainer is not in yet, that'll be next weekend probably. Then I'll have powered flight. I hope you guys can give me tips to help get me started. I'm tired of just watching and not flying. I should post a pic of it just in case tomorrow is a disaster for me. (I know, I shouldn't think like that).

I found some at Walmart but they're not ideal. They'll have to do. I'll have to remember to get a bag of rubberbands next time I go to a "real" city.

I bought some cheap rubber bands at Walmart and just used a lot of them. I flew it into some tall grass and it flew great, so apparently I got the balance right. The first two times it simply poofed into the tall grass. The third time, a wind caught it and it climbed altitude and took off downwind. Yeah it flew great, but had a hard landing. I had to repair the tail. It's good to go again and hanging over my desk along with a few other planes.
