I'd like to build something I saw in the Smithsonian. It's a SPAD. Aerodrome RC has a very beautiful and intricately detailed SPAD. However, this one is a SPAD VII Here it is: And here is the paint job I want to put on it. It will have to be carefully hand-painted. And I'm thinking Silkspan, or maybe even double-layered silkspan, would be best for that. This full size plane is actually a SPAD XIII, but I could still paint the model like it: Of course, these beauties I like to build are a big deal if they crash. The idea is not to ever have a crash, even though it happens sometimes. And I think it would have to ROG from a different flying field than Gavilan.

You seem like the modeling side of the sport is what you like best, so you should hire a pilot to fly them for you so you could get that ultimate satisfaction... And videos and such!

VERY nice pilot. But I'd hire that pilot to take ME for a ride. My exwife was oriental, so I'm not real hot on orientals anymore, but I wouldn't kick this one to the curb!
No, seriously though, I do LOVE to build. I really do. But I've wanted to fly for years. When I was in the military up until last year, I never seemed to have the time or was too tired. But I was always fascinated by flight. So I have to learn.
This weekend I'm planning on bringing my sailplane out, but it's an old-school, high start type sailplane and has no ailerons. Still, it's a real good plane to learn some basic moves and get over that backwards thing when the plane's coming at me.
