I know I've mentioned this to one or two people, but I am a big time hotrodder and have built some nice cars. Here is my prize posession:
This is a 1968 Corvette 427 big block convertible. It has a close ratio Muncie and it was restored and modified by me. It is set up to run the open road racing events, such as the Silver State Classic and Pony Express races. The only thing that stopped me is how valuable this car has become. Insurance won't cover you in a race. You're on your own. Fortunately it's street legal. So if you see me driving around in this, wave.
Here's the engine.
It's a 12.2:1 compression, solid roller cammed, 427 big block worth 630 hp on paper. Probably makes about 500 horse at our 7000 ft altitude. The only bummer is $10/gallon race gas that it burns.
Here's my other hotrod. It's a 1968 Firebird, and this photo is taken in Santa Fe before I moved up here. It's currently in the body shop getting a whole new body and paint.
Finally, here is my daily driver. It's a 1952 GMC truck, but I swapped in a 350 4-bolt main motor. It's still a work in progress, but I still drive it. It's a lot of fun to drive:
I have other hobbies too, but this is my most significant "other" hobby. There are others I'd love to have, but until I have a garage, I'm not really going to do any more hotrodding. Outside conditions are pretty rough on the cars I already have.
But I love to cook, and I also do a lot of plastic scale models, to a serious level, with nice paint jobs, etc. I've messed around with stained glass, and I'd love to become a book author if I can ever find the time.
Oh, and I like brewing beer. I'm getting ready to start my small "brewery" up again.
