Guys, check out the pics on this website. I didn't even know we had P-51 squadrons in the Pacific battling Zeros. I wonder how they did against the maneuverable Zero? America's best fighter against Japan's best.
A LOT of them crashed there. Back then, they were probably bulldozed into a hole and buried. Nowadays, they'd be worth serious money.
The place looks like a real shithole to live in though. Not unlike the bases in Iraq and Afghanistan. I was with our squadron during part of the bombing campaign against Saddam, but we were in Turkey, and it was a pretty nice base actually.
