I'm just about done with this new sailplane that Mitch gave me to fix up. It had an old 27 meg receiver in it and needed a new wing. I used a yellow prefabbed 4' (approximate) wing. Got it working on 72 MHz channel 51 and tested the motor and servos. It's got a new folding prop with a 7x4 pitch and new folding aluminum spinner too. I'm going to run it on a 2-cell lipo.
All that's left now is to make one more pushrod and balance it. It weighs though. It's right now at 19.5 ounces without the battery. So it's going to weigh a few more ounces than the Peregrine. That's because of having the heavier, old-fashioned Speed 400 in it and a very tough, ABS plastic fuselage. But with the wingspan it's got, I'll bet it'll fly okay.
I'd like to test it out this weekend if we get a break in the weather. I see Friday and Saturday are supposed to suck, but Sunday is supposed to be nice and sunny. And if it's windy, maybe I'll try to slope soar it. The wing is thin and looks like it'll cut the wind pretty good. And it's tough enough to survive some rougher landings.
I'll also have to get a picture and post it here.
