Hey guys. I was approached by my boss to possibly move to Clovis, NM to take over that area. She wanted me specifically because I kind of take the bull by the horns and like to fix areas. I won't call Taos "fixed" yet, telephone-wise, but it's had many of its real major problems fixed.
The move might take place sometime this spring, in the April/May timeframe.
Flying-wise, the altitude is 3000 feet lower. So I expect my planes to fly significantly better in the thicker air. If any of you guys ever pass through, please bring some planes with you. There's a zillion parks and open grassy areas there. Much warmer weather there too.
It's the home of Cannon AFB, where they have a squadron of F-16's...my old bird.
Until I get the final word, I'll keep on flying with you and building up my skills. I'll let you know if that does come to pass.

Hey guys. This looks like it's happening. I'm excited about the move. Lots of challenges ahead too, such as finding a new house to rent (one with a GARAGE this time), and a move over 4 hours drive away. It's enough of a haul that it makes me wonder if it'd be worth it to rent a big moving truck and get the majority moved in one shot. I am getting my old restofied 1952 GMC 3/4 pickup truck ready too. It's got a powerful 350 V8 in it, (no that's not stock), and I just got a nice kevlar clutch put in it and a rebuilt Dana 60 rear end with 3.54 gears. Should do GREAT on the highway. That thing can pull its fair share in a uhaul trailer too. So anyway, I looked up the Clovis flying club and spoke to one of the guys there. Real friendly guy with a thick Texas accent, and he's excited as hell to get a new member. They are an AMA flying club and have an impressive field. Check out the satellite photo on their website: clovismads.rchomepage.com/I told him I am a bigtime builder, but a beginner at flying. I've gotten good enough not to crash (most of the time) but I want to get better. I want to be good enough to do aerobatics and expand beyond sailplanes too. I'd also like to have a few good gas planes, because I love the sound of them. So I'm going to get some good continuing training down there. I hope you guys bring a plane and come and visit sometime, if you're passing through the area. And I'll do the same when I return to this area. In fact, I'll be looking forward to showing off my improved skills and new planes. When is still up in the air, but I think within the next couple of weeks. So if I'm a little scarce this spring at the flying field, it could be due to the move. And you can count on me keeping in touch on this forum too.

Well because it's Easter and I'm expected with my family. But I do plan on flying with you guys as much as I can before I leave. Peace, brother.

Looks like nicer weather has finally moved in. I'm planning on flying this weekend unless my boss calls me out to Clovis. Not too many weekends left. I should be moving in the next couple of weeks, but will take longer to move the whole family. I usually move ahead of them so I can start my new job.
Rentals are a real challenge out there. Some really nice houses out there to rent, and really cheap (most of them), but they go fast and I've only found one that allows pets. So what's one supposed to do with their wife then??? (Just kidding. The pets are a few cats and dogs).
...Damn guys, I'm really gonna miss you all!
