I purchased ANOTHER kit from Stevens Aeromodel. If you haven't built one of their planes and like to build I highly recommend them. They run out of a hole-in-the-wall shop in Colorado Springs and the owner, Bill Stevens, is a genius! He designs the planes, they have laser cutters on-site to cut the balsa and they are amazing! Of course I haven't built any other models but from what I read, his are amazing. Anyway this is a SOARStik. It's a 55" replacement wing for the Slow-Stick. It has Ailerons and new tail feathers. It is built to take payloads (yes, a camera is on the way). I did a two-tone covering which was hard because I couldn't mate at the leading edge -- I had to mate at the spar. It came out nice though. Made the decals myself. I maidened the SOARStick this morning. The neighbor across the road from us gave me permission to fly from their field and it is PERFECT! Very much like Gavilan but with more fences. Not power lines or houses though! Anyway after a slightly shakey first take off it trimmed nicely and flew like a dream. It soars like a glider but also maneuvers well and can even fly upside down! Hard with all that dihedral. Anyway here are some more pictures. Attachments:
