Yeah I've got a lot of cars. A few of them have gotten really valuable over the last decade. Especially my Corvette. I've got a 68 Firebird getting a restoration right now, and that's my latest money pit. But it'll be gorgeous.
Thing is though, I've wanted a 240Z ever since I fell in love with them in the seventies. Now that I am beginning to actually have the means to own one, albiet a project, I finally began to seriously look at them.
Originally, I wanted to replace the straight six with a destroked 377 cubic inch 400 motor. But I think I changed my mind. I have some really good V8 vehicles. What I DON'T have is something with a big turbocharger. The little 2.4 six is a GREAT candidate for a turbo. The 280ZX's 2.8 liter turbo motor is even more of a natural. Especially with a custom cam and modern hybrid turbo.
So I built a 1:24 scale plastic model off ebay to test my theories on how it should work. I've done this for years, testing all my paint jobs in miniature to help make my decisions. Some of these little models have won awards too, not that I was trying to. I think I decided on a pearl yellow with a flashy candy tangerine stripe down the middle...the color I once had entertained painting the Corvette. Interior black with black and yellow Recarro seats.
But alas...I still have a Firebird in the resto shop and that is top priority. I think I have to turn my back on Godzilla for the time being. Bills consume my paychecks and my other cars consume my energies.
So maybe next year...
